Joint Doctoral Program

In 2012, Zhiyuan College and Microsoft Asia Research Institute (MSRA) launched a joint doctoral program, and cooperating with Cornell University, the program aims to provide diversified academic experiences at first-class overseas universities and well-known industrial research institutions for the cultivation of talent students in division of Computer Science.

Each year, MSRA subsidizes 1-2 direct doctoral students in Computer Science to complete an one-year doctoral program at Cornell University and credits gained at Cornell will be transferred at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) after completing the course; after returning to China, the students will need to complete the required courses at SJTU and conduct an one-year internship at MSRA; the doctoral thesis of the students is designed to be jointly guided by mentors from SJTU, Cornell and MSRA.
