Abstract

 This talk gives a brief overview on the emerging technology of biomechatronics and its potential application in the next generation of robots and neuro-rehabilitation devices. Specifically, a comprehensive review on recent advances of technologies for design of neuroprosthetic hands, including biomimic hand mechanism design, neuro-interfacing, sensory feedback, etc., is to be presented.

Bio

Dr. Xiangyang Zhu is a chair professor and the director of Robotics Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests cover a wide range of topics in robotics and the emerging multidisciplinary technology of mechatronics, including robot manipulation planning, soft robotics, neuro-prosthetics, and human-machine interfaces.

Dr. Zhu has received a number of awards including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from NSFC in 2005, and the Changjiang Distinguished Professorship from the Ministry of Education in 2007.
