Our brain is probably the most complex system in the world. The brain contains tens of billions of nerve cells. They form intricate neural circuits and neural networks through rich connections to realize cognitive functions such as learning, memory and decision-making. How does the brain perceive the external world, generate complex neural activity, and encode and process information efficiently? How much do we currently know about the brain? This ChalkTalk will introduce the current progress of brain science, discuss some hot research directions in brain science, and imagine possible computing principles of the brain.
