On September 13, Academician Zhang Jie, the Founding Dean of Zhiyuan College has officially launched the advanced training course. In the class, Zhang Jie was in high spirits and delivered a lecture about the history and future of ICF Physics in a humorous way. In the beginning of the lecture, Zhang Jie reviewed the original intention of the course. He believes that the essence of a research-oriented university is not only to impart knowledge to the students, nor to teach students what to think about, but to enable the students to obtain correct thinking methods. 

The course intends to gradually establish correct thinking methods through in-depth discussions on specific problems in the field of Physics (abstraction and approximation of physics + logic and calculation of mathematics), so to realize the transformation from passive to active thinking, and from learning to researches.

The leading lecturer of the course is Academician Zhang, and cutting-edge researches are also invited to participate in the seminars. The course gathers a luxurious teaching assistant team of 18 mentors, and Professor Stefano Atzeni, an internationally renowned Physicist serves as the teaching consultant of the course.  

The course is divided into four stages: "Introduction", "Reading Guidance", "Seminars", "Academic Reports". Zhang Jie expects through these four stages of learning and discussions, the students could transform from passive to active learning, from learning to researches; have a profound understanding of the core physical concepts of ICF Physics, and master the essence of the main physical processes of ICF, and master the basic elements of scientific researches: identify problems, determine research methods, read references, establish research logic, form research conclusions, and conduct in-depth analysis and realize accurate expressions of the results.
