On December 23, 2021, the 2021 annual meeting of ‘Pilot Program 2.0’ of Ministry of Education, and the 2nd ‘Forum on Cultivation towards Top-notch Talents’ of Zhiyuan College are held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The meetings are held online and offline simultaneously, over 2000 representatives from universities such as Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Fudan University, Tongji University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Shandong University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University attended the discussion for ‘Cultivation towards Future-leading Top-notch Talents’. 

The opening ceremony and keynote speeches are live-streamed and watched by over 8000 viewers. Wu Yan, Director of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education; Li Zhiyong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; Lin Zhongqin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC and President of SJTU; Zhang Ji, Director of the Academic Committee and Founding Dean; Xu Xuemin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC and Deputy President of SJTU, Dean of Zhiyuan College attended the conferences. 

Wu Yan, Lin Zhongqin, Zhang Jie and invited guests delivered keynote speeches. Director Wu proposes to promote the cultivation of top-notch students in basic disciplines through 3 aspects: 1) Confidence. Based on the analysis of two dimensions and four indicators, it is pointed out that China's higher education has entered the first square team of the world's higher education, and the cultivation of top students in basic disciplines obtains the confidence, ability and strength needed. 2) Target. Higher education should shoulder a major mission and play a major role in promoting the development of our nation, and we shall take the cultivation of top-notch talents in basic disciplines as a key goal. 3) Scheme. We shall condense the Pilot Program 2.0 education mode, form the Chinese scheme for the cultivation of top-notch talents in basic disciplines, build a high-quality talent training system, and lay the foundation for building the world's key talent center and innovation highland.
