Bio:

ZHANG Xuan, Associate Professor, Master's Supervisor.Received her doctor’s degree in Chinese traditional music theory from Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SCM). Since 2007, Zhang has been teaching Chinese traditional music theory in the Department of Musicology of SCM and she has been teaching foreign students on opera and folk arts in English. Her fields of interest are Chinese traditional music forms, Chinese opera music and performance, Chinese opera music and rural society. She has published a number of papers on the core academic journals in China. She published and co-published 11 monographs,textbooks, and picture books. In the recent five years, she led and participated in 4 national and Shanghai municipal scientific research projects. Currently, she is chairing the following programs: Building an Immersive Chinese Opera Music Art Theory Classroom, a key teaching reform program for undergraduates in Shanghai colleges and universities; Chinese Classical Opera Music, a demonstrative English teaching program for foreign students in Shanghai colleges and universities.Project of the National Social Science Fund of China: Morphological Research and Cultural Interpretation of Early 20th-Century Shanghai Opera Recordings.Eastern Young Talent Project.
