From March 28th to 30th, delegation led by Academician Naizheng Huang, Dean of the Faulty of Science, Hong Kong Chinese University (“CUHK”) visited Zhiyuan College. The CUHK delegates discussed matters such as the cultivation of undergraduates, curriculum set-up mechanism, and semester exchange with heads of Zhiyuan College, which is led by Mei Hong, Secretary of General Party Branch Committee.

At the symposium, Xia Weiliang, Vice President of Zhiyuan College introduced the development history, the concept of talent cultivation, the management framework and the future development plan of Zhiyuan College . Afterwards, the two parties discussed on the directions of Mathematics, Chemistry, Life Science, and Physics in details, such as the curriculum set-up system of related faculties, student exchange programs, and admission models, etc..

Zhiyuan College also arranged a visit to the new library and students’ dormitories for the CUHK delegation, so that they could better understand the learning environment and living environment of the SJTU undergraduates. The CUHK delegates spoke highly of the pleasant campus environment and well-equipped hardware facilities.

The CUHK delegates had face-to-face communications with 10 Zhiyuan students from various divisions, and the students had showed strong interest in the exchange programs provided and had active interactions with the delegates. The students raised questions on matters such as teaching language, credit transfer, proportion of research and course-taking, interdisciplinary studies, and were patiently answered by the CUHK professors.

On the first day of the visit, Academician Naizheng Huang gave an excellent talk on his idea on talent cultivation for Zhiyuan students, and shared the requirements for future talents with the audiences. Huang encouraged students to break mind restrictions and pursue truth and life goals.
